Nagels have over 40 years experience in the
textile manufacturing business. They have been
a key supplier to many of New Zealand's largest
retail stores, including Farmers and The Warehouse.

Their Problem

Recently the New Zealand clothing industry has seen some huge changes with the shift to off-shore procurement and manufacturing of garments. Nagels made the difficult decision of shifting their manufacturing off-shore and wanted to know that their garments would be made ethically and to the same quality standards that they had set in New Zealand.

Our Solution

Unicon Group worked with Nagels to establish a simple but effective quality control system. We also set in place strict standards for manufacturers to work by.

We require all manufacturers have these systems as a minimum:

  • ISO9001 Quality Control System.

  • ISO14001 Environmental Management System

  • OHSMS18001 Occupational Health Security Management System

Today Unicon Group manages all of Nagels manufacturing in China. We are present in the factories to ensure the quality of production. We talk directly with workers and check that manufacturers are meeting their occupation and health obligations.

We are proud to say we only work with companies that are serious about their social and environmental responsibilities. Our first question to them is not about price and delivery times but about the quality and standards under which the products are made.
